Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing, RN and/or LPN, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential direct care services at Sedgwick County Health Center’s long term care setting. The Certified Nursing Assistant plays a vital role in delivering compassionate high-quality care to our residents.

Success in this role requires the ability to work collaboratively with nursing staff, therapists, and other care team members to ensure the highest quality of care. The CNA must effectively follow care plans, monitor residents’ health status, and document results in the electronic medical record while fostering an environment of encouragement, dignity, and respect.

The CNA also ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory standards, facility policies, and best practices for direct nursing care. The CNA plays a critical role in supporting and assisting residents with ADL’s (activities of daily living), such as, bathing, dressing, oral care, meals, and toileting while reinforcing the principles of person-centered care.

The ideal candidate will be a compassionate and skilled caregiver that demonstrates strong communication skills, patience, adaptability, and a commitment to improving the well‑being of residents in a long‑term care setting.

Core Responsibilities
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility support
  • Transfer and reposition residents using proper body mechanics and lifting techniques
  • Monitor and report changes in resident conditions to the charge nurse
  • Support meal service, including feeding assistance and documentation of intake
  • Assist in toileting programs and continence care per residents’ care plans
  • Maintain resident safety and dignity while performing care tasks
  • Keep accurate records of care activities and complete daily flow sheets
  • Comply with infection control and safety procedures
  • Participate quality improvement activities
Additional Responsibilities
  • Treat residents with dignity and respect, ensuring compliance with all facility policies
  • Protect residents’ rights and confidentiality of medical information
  • Report any abuse, neglect, or safety concerns promptly
  • Participate in training, emergency drills, and mandatory compliance programs
  • Maintain professionalism in interactions with residents, families, and staff
  • Assist in the evacuation of residents during emergencies
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Nursing Assistant certification in good standing with the state
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Minimum of one year of CNA experience in long-term care preferred
  • No disciplinary action on certification
