Brief Description
We're hiring full-time Nurse Assistants in beautiful Salida (2.6% geographical differential provided)!
General Purpose
A Nurse Assistant provides services to individuals and families requiring assistance with behavioral health or substance abuse issues, including alcohol and drug abuse.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Performs basic physical care under guidance of RN.
- Refers to Nurse Practitioners and RNs for follow-up as needed.
- Provides support to clients and ensures safety plans are implemented.
- Works as part of a team with Doctors, Nurse Practitioners, RNs, Clinicians, and Behavioral Health Workers.
- Documents all patient contacts and clinical information in the electronic health record system.
- Participates in training sessions and staff meetings.
- Maintains prompt and regular attendance.
- Arranges transportation as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Level II duties include all Level I responsibilities plus:
- Performs vital signs, assists with exams, baths, and feeding.
- Participates in ongoing training to stay current with certifications such as CNA, EMT, MA, or CMHT, and maintains licensure.
Job Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability for Level I and II:
- Knowledge of Mental Health/Substance Use Disorders.
- Good communication skills.
- Understanding of client rights, confidentiality, ethics, and roles.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries and recognize risks.
- Ability to model appropriate use of personal stories and self-disclosure.
- Acceptance of diversity and cultural competency.
- Understanding trauma, resiliency, recovery, and wellness principles.
- Ability to teach wellness skills and encourage support networks.
- Willingness to seek supervision and ask for guidance.

- Ability to learn and implement evidence-based practices.
- Organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to manage relationships constructively.
Education or Formal Training
- High School Diploma; ability to demonstrate reading, writing, and speaking skills.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 1 month of hire.
Level II requires:
- Current QMAP, CNA, MA, EMT, or CMHT certification/registration.
Additional Information
- Work schedule:
Three 12-hour shifts per week (day and night shifts available, with shift differential for nights).
Working Conditions
This role operates in a fast-paced environment, with potential exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and communicable diseases. Physical activities include standing, sitting, bending, and lifting 10-25 lbs.
Conditions of Employment
- Annual TB test, drug screening, and influenza vaccination or policy compliance.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must pass drug screen, background check, and FBI fingerprint check.
Benefits and Compensation
Includes insurance, paid time off, internships, training, loan forgiveness programs, and salary ranges from $20.00 to $23.92 hourly depending on level.
