Location: Burlington, Colorado

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Manager to lead and oversee clinical laboratory operations at a regional acute‑care hospital serving a rural community in eastern Colorado. This role provides operational, clinical, and administrative leadership for all laboratory services, ensuring high‑quality diagnostic testing, regulatory compliance, and exceptional patient care across all age groups.

The Clinical Laboratory Manager partners closely with physicians, pathologists, nursing leadership, and administration to maintain efficient workflows, strong quality outcomes, and a positive team culture.

Leadership & Administration

• Direct and coordinate all clinical laboratory services, including chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology/immunology, and blood bank
• Lead hiring, onboarding, training, performance evaluations, and ongoing staff development
• Serve as an accessible resource to laboratory staff for consultation and problem‑solving

Financial & Resource Management

• Prepare, manage, and monitor departmental operating and capital budgets
• Develop inventory systems and oversee cost‑control measures
• Ensure efficient utilization of personnel, supplies, and equipment

Quality, Compliance & Safety

• Maintain compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and proficiency testing requirements
• Oversee enrollment and participation in approved proficiency testing programs
• Establish and monitor critical value reporting processes and implement corrective actions when needed
• Ensure continuous quality improvement, infection control, and environmental safety standards

Clinical & Technical Oversight

• Oversee Laboratory Information System (LIS) functionality and reporting
• Coordinate reporting improvements with information services
• Maintain current laboratory policies and procedures accessible to all staff
• Collaborate with consulting pathologists on clinical, operational, and educational needs

Required Education

• Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field

Required Experience

• Minimum of one (1) year of management experience in an acute‑care clinical laboratory

Required Certifications

• MLT, ASCP, CPT, or AMT certification

• Strong leadership, organizational, and decision‑making skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced healthcare environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office or comparable software

• Clinical laboratory setting with exposure to blood and body fluids
• Frequent interaction with patients, physicians, and clinical staff
• Ability to respond to urgent situations, interruptions, and operational demands
