Medical Equipment Technician
Medical Equipment Technicians are responsible for ensuring safe delivery, providing setup and education in the usage of home medical equipment for our customers. Setup is completed in the customer's home, long‑term care setting, clinic, or any location deemed necessary.
Responsibilities- Maintain working knowledge of HME products and services and related regulations.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Educate customers in proper use and care of respiratory and HME equipment.
- Complete required documentation after equipment setup, delivery, or pickup.
- Assist customers with equipment problems under emergency conditions.
- Process orders accurately and in a timely manner.
- Promote services and products to referral sources as appropriate.
- Document reimbursement information to ensure reimbursement for all equipment, products, and services.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain safety protocols.
- Maintain home oxygen systems through scheduled visits.
- Operate and maintain company vehicle safely.
- Perform patient assessment and re‑assessment for care.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance and simple repairs as needed.
- Report equipment hazards and incidents according to company policy.
- Assist with implementation of quality improvement programs.
- Adhere to procedures for PPE, infection control, hazardous materials handling.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.
- Complete compliance training and other required education.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Entry‑level sales or customer service background.
- One year of military, delivery driver with sales component, or health‑care technician experience (preferred).
- Senior level requires two years of related experience and one year of exact job experience.
- Valid and unrestricted driver's license in the state of residence.
- Regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Stretch, bend, stoop, and crouch to perform moderate to heavy physical labor while moving equipment and supplies.
- Subject to long periods of sitting and driving.
- Work environment may be stressful at times.
- May be exposed to unsanitary conditions, hazardous materials, loud noise, extreme temperatures, and infectious pathogens.
- May encounter high‑crime areas, angry or irate customers, or stressful interactions.
- Must be able to drive independently and travel as needed.
- Must be able to access patient residences without assistance.
- Mental alertness to perform essential functions.
- Effective communication (verbal and written) with empathy, compassion, courtesy, and privacy respect.
