Requirements

To be seriously considered for this role, you’ll need to have:

  • Education
    :
    Master’s Degree from an approved program of Speech/Language Pathology.
  • Experience
    :
    Clinical training with a variety of client populations.
  • Licenses/Certification
    :
    Must hold a valid Certificate of Clinical Competence outlined by ASHA. Maintenance of CPR or BLS
  • Skills
    • Ability to take proper history and use evaluation methods in accordance with established guidelines
    • Documents prognosis, as well as predicted optimal level of improvement in function and amount of time needed to reach that level.
    • Develop a treatment program in collaboration with patient/care giver as appropriate.
    • Must be comfortable taking care of pediatric, adolescent as well as adult and geriatric patients.
Responsibilities

As the Speech Pathologist at Gunnison Valley Health, you will be evaluating and treating patients utilizing the parameters established by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. This is a physically, emotionally and mentally challenging job. You’ll utilize your unique skills and ideas by:

  • Designing individualized treatment programs appropriate to achieving short and long-term goals, in collaboration with the patient or the patient’s caregiver.
  • Demonstrating awareness of the patient’s status by making program changes in response to changes in the patient or his environment.
  • Performing adult and geriatric dysphagia evaluations appropriately according to the ASHA practice standards.
  • Documenting prognosis including predicted optimal level of improvement in function. Short-term goals are clear, measurable, functional, and time specific. Long-term goals are clear, measurable, functional, and time specific.
