Position Overview

Responsible for the effective installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. The engineer ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational goals and objectives.

What you’ll do
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes. Reviews system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Configure and install VMware, Microsoft and Linux servers, network equipment and third‑party software.
  • Manage and maintain end‑user access to Active Directory systems, services, servers, devices, and desktop/laptop computers in a prompt and effective manner. Keeps users informed on the progress of maintenance.
  • Document activities utilizing the Hunter Douglas ticketing system. Submit weekly reports on significant activity to the IT Manager.
  • Work with the appropriate IT group to promptly resolve situations. Notify Operations when appropriate. Initiate and follow through with other SAs and IT team members in preparing written documentation of work activities related to installations, upgrades and designs made to hardware systems and software. Support division‑wide Intranet resources for users of the network, hardware, and software systems.
  • Maintain relevant technical knowledge to help Hunter Douglas succeed and thrive in Information Technology. Partner with the business to understand where applications can be the most efficient.
  • Perform any related or miscellaneous duties necessary for the efficiency of the department and Hunter Douglas.
  • Develop and maintain a Disaster Recovery process on systems under your responsibility and participate in Disaster Recover Exercises as needed.
  • Develop and implement data archiving techniques and serve as a data archiving expert.
  • Implement new solutions based on best practices.
  • Provide IT support across all divisions. This includes 24‑hour support as part of biweekly on‑call schedule.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Other functions:
    • Responsible and accountable for Microsoft Server and SQL Licensing.
    • Responsible and accountable for VMware Licensing.
    • Responsible and accountable for warranty/support renewals related to System Engineering.
    • Administration of VMware, Nutanix, Windows and Linux hosts
    • Assist and backup the Systems, Network, Telecom and System Administrators when required.
    • Perform any related or miscellaneous duties and maintain relevant technical knowledge necessary for the team’s success
Who you are
  • BS degree in Information Technology or five years of related experience combined with technical certification.
  • Understanding of operating systems at an expert level.
  • Cisco Networking:
    Advanced level knowledge on TCP/IP networks including routing and switching.
  • VLAN and wireless architecture design and implementation.
  • MCSE or equivalent training on relevant releases of Microsoft Server products from the past ten years including current releases.
