The Senior Supply Chain Manager is responsible for the strategic and tactical management of all supply chain functions — including purchasing, inventory control, receiving, and shipping — to ensure optimal material availability, cost efficiency, and operational flow. This role will lead a cross‑functional team to achieve seamless coordination from supplier to customer, driving accuracy, efficiency, and accountability across all material movement.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all purchasing activities, ensuring alignment with production schedules and business objectives.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery terms with key suppliers to reduce costs and improve reliability.
- Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, ensuring consistent quality and on‑time performance.
- Establish and monitor KPIs for supplier performance and implement corrective actions when necessary.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations to qualify new suppliers and materials.
- Direct all inventory control processes, ensuring accurate counts and system alignment (
ERP/MRP
). - Maintain optimal inventory levels to balance production demands, cash flow, and risk of obsolescence.
- Lead cycle counting and reconciliation activities to achieve 98%+ inventory accuracy.
- Implement lean material management principles and Kanban systems where applicable.
- Manage all inbound and outbound logistics operations, ensuring efficient, accurate, and compliant handling of materials and finished goods.
- Oversee the receiving team to ensure timely inspection and entry of incoming materials.
- Lead the shipping department to ensure all customer orders and distributor shipments are accurate, on time, and properly documented.
- Partner with Production and Quality teams to identify and eliminate material flow bottlenecks.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team across supply chain functions — fostering accountability, communication, and growth.
- Utilize data‑driven decision‑making to improve forecasting, demand planning, and supplier alignment.
- Partner with Finance and Operations to drive continuous improvement in cost, delivery, and service metrics.
- Support ERP/MRP optimization for supply chain processes and reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field (MBA or APICS certification preferred).
- 7+ years of progressive experience in supply chain or materials management, ideally in manufacturing.
- Demonstrated success leading purchasing, inventory, and logistics teams in a high‑mix, low‑volume or precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Infor Visual, SAP, or similar).
- Proven negotiation, leadership, and vendor management capabilities.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with a results‑driven mindset.
