Climax Molybdenum is the world’s leading producer of molybdenum and has a long, successful history of doing business safely, efficiently and responsibly. We have operated in Colorado for more than 100 years, with mining and milling operations near Leadville, Kremmling and Empire. Our Climax Mine is located between Frisco and Leadville – the seat of Lake County and the highest incorporated city in the United States.

Employees who are required to work on-site are eligible for a $1,450 monthly housing allowance, provided they meet program guidelines. At an elevation of over 10,000 feet, the rich historic town of Leadville is surrounded by snow‑capped mountains. Employees and their families can enjoy hiking, camping, ultramarathon activities, skiing, boating, and other outdoor recreation. Leadville offers numerous schools, amenities and attractions such as the National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum and Ski Cooper.

What

You Will Do
  • Perform component diagnostic replacement and repairs on equipment such as crushers, conveyor systems, ball mills, auto mills, screen decks, lube systems, compressors, filter drums, hydraulic filter presses, foundry pumps and lubrication systems.
  • Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance, identifying potential failures, noises and wear on agitators, rotors, belts, pulleys and gearboxes.
  • Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed.
  • Perform welding (Stick, TIG).
  • Train and mentor other employees.
  • Operate equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, pneumatic air tools and small mobile equipment.
  • Act as a Fill‑in Supervisor as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.
What You Bring To Freeport
  • Two (2) years’ experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • Completed academic and practical competencies required, including Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where applicable.
  • Ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while achieving a 35 % score on a written assessment where required; proficiency in basic welding skills.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety‑related instructions and procedures in English.
  • Ability to read and use schematics and blueprints.
  • Time‑management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is $29.50 – $39.50 hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job‑related factors. The role is eligible for discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
