CDOC Electronics Specialist III; Canon

Job Overview

Electronics Specialist III at the Colorado Department of Corrections in Canon City, CO. Responsible for maintaining facility electronic systems—door controls, fire protection, security detection, communication, public address, surveillance, cable TV, and LAN—while ensuring compliance with NEC and facility policies.

• Maintain and repair electronic systems, including door controls, security alarms, communication, surveillance, and cable TV.
• Ensure all systems comply with NEC, facility policies, and security protocols.
• Coordinate with IT, communications, security, and engineering teams on system updates and upgrades.
• Inventory and manage parts and supplies for routine and emergency maintenance.
• Provide training and mentorship to staff and inmate workers for safe system operation.
• Assist in developing, enforcing, and updating security policies related to electronic systems.

• Three (3) years of professional experience repairing, maintaining, and installing electronic systems and equipment in a facility.
• Strong work ethic, integrity, dependability, and self‑motivation.
• Excellent communication skills and proficiency with electronics and telecommunications systems.
• Ability to read blueprints, conduct research, develop cost estimates, and coordinate projects with other trades.
• Knowledge of safety and security practices for high‑risk environments.
• Ability to respond to emergencies involving electronic issues and to operate in confined, high‑conflict areas.

• Associate’s degree in Electronic Technology or Electronic Engineering.
• Experience with broadband and CAT 5/6 installation.
• Certified Uniprise Installer.
