Job Summary

The Plumber – Mid Level (Journey) is a skilled professional responsible for independently installing and maintaining plumbing systems for modular homes at Mytikas Steel’s production facility. This role ensures proper water flow, drainage, and leak prevention, troubleshoots and repairs plumbing issues, and complies with plumbing codes and safety standards. The Journey Plumber works with minimal supervision and collaborates with production teams to meet project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures (e.g., sinks, toilets), and appliances (e.g., water heaters), independently in modular homes.
  • Maintain and repair plumbing systems to ensure proper water flow, drainage, and leak prevention.
  • Troubleshoot plumbing issues, diagnosing and resolving problems efficiently (e.g., clogs, leaks, pressure issues).
  • Ensure compliance with plumbing codes (e.g., IPC) and safety standards, including proper venting and drainage systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and plumbing schematics to execute installations accurately.
  • Perform routine maintenance on plumbing tools and equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborate with production teams to meet project deadlines and quality requirements.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Colorado-approved plumber apprenticeship program or vocational training in plumbing required.
  • Experience:

    3–5 years of plumbing experience, preferably in a manufacturing or construction setting, with at least 6,800 hours of documented practical experience per Colorado DORA requirements.
  • Technical

    Skills:
    • Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting plumbing systems.
    • Strong knowledge of plumbing codes (e.g., IPC) and safety practices.
    • Ability to read blueprints and plumbing schematics.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Certifications:

    Journeyman Plumber license issued by the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) required (DORA). OSHA safety training is a plus.
Work Environment
  • On-site at Mytikas Steel’s production facility in Florence, Colorado.
  • Collaborative, production-driven environment with opportunities to guide Entry-Level plumbers.
  • Requires adherence to safety standards and use of PPE (e.g., gloves, safety glasses, hard hats).
  • Schedule:

    4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (40 hours total).

Career Path:
This role provides opportunities for advancement to the Senior (Master) Plumber position upon completing additional experience (8,500 hours total per DORA) and obtaining a Master Plumber license.
