The GYPSUM CREEK GOLF COURSE/TOWN OF GYPSUM is accepting applications for Assistant Equipment Technician
This is a full-time year-round at-will, non-exempt position with benefits. This position performs preventive maintenance or repair on assigned equipment and participates in a diverse range of activities involved in golf course maintenance and construction. This position will work under the supervision of the Head Equipment Technician and the Golf Course Superintendent. Position requires knowledge, or willingness to learn the safe use of hand tools and ground turf machines and the diagnosis/repair of small engines and cutting units.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Operate power equipment for mowing golf course greens, tees, approaches, fairways, and rough areas.
- Overhauls and repairs maintenance vehicles, mowing equipment and other power equipment.
- Lubricates and services all equipment.
- Inspects equipment for operating deficiencies and makes routine adjustments where necessary.
- Maintains up-to-date understanding of hydraulic systems, repairs and their components.
- Inspects, changes, and repairs tires.
- Assists in controlling tool access and use by maintenance staff.
- Assists in fabricating, body repair and painting.
- Grind reels and bed knives; sharpen rotary blades to keep cutting equipment in top condition
- Assists in training the maintenance staff in proper care and upkeep of the golf course equipment.
- May be called upon to operate or train to operate various types of maintenance equipment.
- Clean and care for the equipment used.
- Serve as a positive brand ambassador for Gypsum Creek Golf Course on and off the property.
- Maintains work area, tools, and equipment in a clean and safe condition; responsible for reporting unsafe acts or conditions to supervisor.
- Additional tasks may include, but are not limited to, sweeping and washing floors; emptying wastebaskets, and performing other cleaning tasks as assigned.
- Responds, as necessary, to emergency calls to make temporary or permanent repairs or adjustments to town vehicles and equipment.
- Performs janitorial tasks, as required, to maintain the cleanliness of maintenance area.
- Receives training from lead mechanic while performing job duties.
- Requires entry level knowledge of the principles, practices, materials, and methods of general automotive mechanics; lawn and landscaping equipment; reel sharpening and setup; gasoline and diesel engine maintenance and repair; vehicle and equipment diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair; and the skill and ability to apply that knowledge to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Requires mechanical and basic mathematical aptitude, understanding and analytic ability sufficient to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair golf course equipment in order to perform essential job functions.
- A variety of mechanics’ hand and power tools and mechanical equipment including but not limited to wrenches, drills, screwdrivers, hammers, pliers; tire-changing equipment; vehicle lifts and hoists; arbor press; air compressors and air tools; diagnostic machines; cutting and welding equipment; a variety of electronic and mechanical testing equipment and devices.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and service manuals, utilizing books, computers and the internet.
- Small engineer repair experience preferred but not required.
- Physical requirements include the performance of heavy work consisting of physically-demanding tasks that include, but are not limited to frequently lifting and carrying tools and tool boxes weighing up to 50 lbs.; occasionally pushing and pulling diagnostic machines and tool boxes weighing up to 100 lbs; occasionally lifting wheel, tire and brake assemblies weighing up to 100 lbs.; frequently using hands and arms to operate and adjust controls on tools, machinery and equipment and use tools to perform essential duties;
frequently climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, handling, fingering, and feeling to operate tools to maintain or repair vehicles and equipment; occasional smelling to detect gasoline leaks or unusual…
