Climbing + Fitness in Broomfield, CO is an employee-centric gym that believes well-supported staff create great experiences for our community. We are seeking a Head Youth Coach who is passionate about youth development, committed to long-term growth, and excited to help build a strong program culture.

We are hiring for a Head Coach to lead competitive youth programs and work with the Assistant Head Coach to guide recreational team development. This role consists of 24–30 hours per week with the option for full-time employment via other job duties. Full-time roles include access to PTO and health, dental, and life insurance benefits.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of youth climbing coaching experience, deep climbing knowledge, and the ability to climb at 5.13/V8+, or coach at that level. Competitive climbing and USAC experience are preferred. The Head Coach reports directly to the Programs Director, oversees all team coaches, and must be available for evening practices and occasional weekend competitions.

Responsibilities Safety & Facility Standards
  • Enforce G1’s policies in a friendly, patient, and respectful manner.
  • Ensure athlete safety at all times, identifying and mitigating risks throughout practice.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, growth mindset, and strong work ethic.
  • Complete additional tasks and responsibilities as directed by facility management.
Coaching & Athlete Experience
  • Directly coach competitive team practices while providing a positive and healthy learning environment.
  • Maintain a fun and engaging practice atmosphere for athletes of all ages and abilities.
  • Prioritize the well-being and safety of athletes above all else.
Leadership & Staff Development
  • Aid in the hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing development of all youth coaches.
  • Manage coach scheduling to ensure adequate staffing across the youth programs.
  • Provide regular updates to the Programs Director on team needs, competition results, coach performance, and athlete progression.
Curriculum & Program Management
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Head Coach to design and adapt curriculum for competitive and recreational programs.
  • Track athlete progression and facilitate appropriate team placements.
  • Communicate any necessary updates to billing or enrollment to the Programs Director.
  • Support the Programs Director in developing new youth offerings that meet community and market needs.
Events & Community Building
  • Collaborate with the Programs Director to plan, organize, and execute team events such as tryouts, outdoor trips, and other special events.
  • Attend youth program events, including team nights, community-building activities, and outdoor climbing days.
  • Travel to regional, divisional, and national competitions (including weekends) to coach and support athletes.
Communication & Collaboration
  • Maintain prompt, professional, and positive communication with families, staff, and management.
  • Provide regular updates to athletes and families regarding practices, competitions, and team-related information.
  • Collaborate with other departments to address program needs and ensure smooth facility operations.
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with team members and act as a visible leader and role model.
Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience. Coaching alone is a part-time, hourly position that requires approximately 24-30 hours per week, split between coaching & admin. Pay ranges from $21 – $26 an hour. This role may be taken as a full-time, salaried position with additional responsibilities if preferred. A performance review is conducted 60 days from hire-date and then annually thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications + Experience
  • 3+ years of competitive coaching experience
  • USAC Level 2 Coach Certification
  • Ability to climb 5.13 and V8/9 or harder, or the ability to coach at that level
  • Safesport Certification
  • Extensive knowledge of USAC competitive youth climbing
  • Ability to teach and demonstrate advanced climbing techniques
  • Leadership experience working with youth
  • Management experience
  • Detail oriented, reliable, and punctual
  • Ability to adapt and engage with a variety of children
  • Must be available to work weekday evenings and weekends
