The Parks & Recreation Director provides strategic leadership, vision, and operational oversight for Columbia Heights’ Parks and Recreation Department. Responsible for cultivating an inclusive, welcoming, and culturally responsive parks and recreation system that reflects and celebrates the diverse community.
Leads planning, development, and administration of recreation programs, facilities, events, and services; collaborates closely with Public Works and Engineering on park maintenance, facility maintenance, and capital planning; and partners with the Parks and Recreation Commission on long‑range planning, master plans, and strategic initiatives. Responsible for the management and scheduling of J.P. Murzyn Hall and the Hylander Center, and oversees the scheduling of parks and issuance of park permits.
Minimum Qualifications- • Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Recreation Management, Leisure Services, Sports Administration, or related field.
- • Five years’ responsible administrative and supervisory experience in municipal recreation or administration.
- • Valid driver’s license.
