Position Summary
Fusion Academy in Columbia has an immediate opening for a STEM Teacher. This position provides a student-centered, supportive classroom that promotes resourcefulness, critical thinking, self-awareness, and inclusion while addressing the individual academic and emotional needs of each student through Fusion's differentiated approach.
* This is a part‑time position with the potential to grow into a full‑time position contingent upon student enrollment.
$27.30 per hour USD
Key Responsibilities- Provide one‑to‑one teaching in Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre‑Calculus, Calculus, and possibly Statistics at grades 6‑12.
- Show evidence of adapting and differentiating instruction for all students and fostering a classroom forum for holistic growth.
- Maintain complete and accurate teacher and student records.
- Develop and maintain genuine, positive and consistent communication between parents and teachers.
- Contribute to and benefit from the campus community.
- Practice professionalism through ongoing professional development, reflection, and continuous improvement.
- Include significant student mentoring in addition to subject‑matter tutoring and teaching.
- Other duties as assigned, including tutoring part‑time students.
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, with a higher level Math and/or Science background.
- Solid subject‑matter knowledge in the areas listed above, at grades 6‑12.
- Teaching credentials are a plus but are not mandatory.
- Experience with students who have learning differences and ADHD, as well as mentoring experience, is a plus.
- The ideal candidate is outgoing, well organized, competent in basic computer skills, and eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic school setting.
- Candidate must be prepared to teach and tutor material at a high school level immediately.
- Expertise in relevant subject areas.
- Understanding of learning differences and emotional difficulties.
- Ability to mentor as a positive role model.
- Understanding and support for each student’s profile.
- Commitment to continuous improvement.
- Self‑directed, proactive, intelligent; knowledge of curriculum and assessment, multi‑tasker, problem‑solving skills, professional written and verbal communication, patience and compassion for connecting with students.
- Ability to manage stress, self‑regulate during chaos and crisis, consistent positivity, strong teamwork, genuine, organized, internally motivated, service orientation, and curiosity with compassion.
Pay may vary based on location, skills, and experience. Variable annual bonus may also be available based on company, team, and/or individual performance.
