WSP is currently initiating a search for a Sr. Electrical Engineer to work at Fort George G. Meade Army Base at Fort Meade, MD

Your Impact

  • Performance of electrical engineering design and production support from project inception through construction.
  • Leverage analytical and design skills and ability to solve complex technical problems in professional discipline.
  • Utilize advanced analytical techniques and computer software tools and applications (i.e. REVIT, AutoCAD, Trace 3D Plus) in solving technical/electrical engineering problems.
  • Perform engineering studies, requirements development and programming, engineering site investigations and evaluation, facility criteria development, facility requirements development, budget and programming support, analyses, and program execution.
  • Determine well-defined methods for collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, schematics, data, technical drawings, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction.
  • Perform professional electrical engineering work and conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, building, usage, and electrical systems to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and construction or operating permits.
  • Develop construction and installation plans, specifications, preparing construction safety and phasing plans and updating building layout plans that require coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients.
  • Incorporate design requirements, load calculations, and operating strategies to account for the proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems according to specifications (Specs Intact, UFGS); implementing future-ready solutions with electrical engineering design standards (Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)).
  • Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects, assist with laying out installation of equipment, calculating costs and quantities of material/equipment/labor, and ensuring project work conforms with specifications, permit applications, schematics, compliance documentation, and regulatory and technical analysis memos.
  • Prepare data and visualizations such as tables, charts, accurate reports, sketches, calculations, technical drawings, spreadsheets, and illustrations for the interpretation or presentation of data, findings, or analyses.
  • Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements, statistical analysis, and reporting.
  • Assist with development and scoping of medium-sized projects.
  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations that explain research, findings, and recommendations to improve, prevent, control, restore, or address design and/or construction issues or opportunities.
  • Assist in the analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of data obtained during field investigations, offering input with developing action plans for moderate- to high-level risk installation, equipment operations, and/or mitigation activities.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
  • Remain current in latest electrical engineering techniques and practices.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers and planners on projects with building authorities on Federal, State, regional, and locally funded improvement and development projects.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or closely related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Strong proficiency in and previous hands-on application of AutoCAD design software.
  • 7+ years of experience with Electrical Engineering design.
  • Ability to obtain a US Government-issued Secret clearance.
  • Due to client requirements, US citizenship is required.
  • Proficient knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and the application to project work-related issues.
  • Experience with building and infrastructure planning, design, and construction management; including active involvement in a variety of rehabilitation and new design projects.
