The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Research Program Coordinator (RPC) to work under the direct supervision of the Research Program Manager. As part of a multicenter research study, the RPC will assist in the day-to-day logistical and operational tasks of a research study. Responsible for the organization, entry, and maintenance and accuracy of all clinical research data for a complex and detailed clinical trial.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintains good working knowledge of all assigned protocols and reporting requirements.
  • Adheres to all protocol requirements to ensure the validity of the clinical research data.
  • With assistance, prepares and submits annual renewal requests, amendments, and adverse event reports with clinical input according to IRB and Sponsor requirements.
  • Verifies patient eligibility by comparing patient history with protocol requirements.
  • Collects respiratory and blood samples from ED patients.
  • Collects, enters, and compiles clinical data from a variety of sources.
  • Meets regularly with research team to review data accuracy and overall study progress.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Must be comfortable collecting saliva, urine, or blood samples from patients.
  • Proficiency in the use of computers, including software applications, databases, mathematical and statistical tools, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Independent and self-motivated.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated strong, positive interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively across disciplines and within a variety of cultures.
Work Schedule/Hours
  • 40 hours a week.
  • Must be available to work 8-hour shifts at a time, between the hours of 7:00 am and 10:00 pm, seven (7) days of the week.
  • Must be flexible and available to work some evenings and every other weekend.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One year of related experience in clinical trials/medical research.
