Non-Exempt - Graduate from an AMA-approved program in Radiation Therapy or Radiologic Technology.
- Registered as a Radiation Therapy Technologist with ARRT.
- Maryland licensure in Radiation Therapy Technology.
- Associate of Science degree preferred; one year of clinical practice preferred.
- Knowledge of radiologic technology, radiation therapy, safety procedures, dosimetry, physics, anatomy, and physiology.
- Ability to operate radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators and cobalt units.
- Effective communication skills for working with patients and healthcare staff.
- Ability to provide age-appropriate patient care and assess patient needs across the lifespan.

General Summary
Under general supervision, administer ionizing radiation (radiation therapy treatments) to patients as prescribed by a physician according to established standards and practices.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks
The following describes the general nature and level of work performed by personnel in this classification. It is not an exhaustive list of all duties.
Deliver prescribed radiation therapy to patients as per physician instructions, following accepted practices and departmental procedures.
A. Check prescription, diagnosis, chart, patient identification, and relevant information. Schedule patients, explain procedures (including pre- and post-treatment), answer questions, and reassure patients.
B. Interface with physicists, planning, and mold technicians at treatment initiation. Collaborate with supportive care physicians, nurses, and social workers to implement therapy plans.
C. Prepare treatment room and equipment, including immobilization devices, setting field size, treatment parameters, and safety devices.
D. Transfer patients to treatment tables carefully, maintain contact during treatment, check treatment schedules, deliver doses, and document treatments. Maintain patient markings and change as directed. Take and process treatment films, observe safety measures.
E. Ensure accurate billing, perform weekly audits, and correct errors.
Monitor patients during therapy for reactions or events, report significant issues, and assist in emergency treatments. Reinforce care instructions from healthcare team, change dressings as needed, and ensure safety protocols.
Maintain department facilities, equipment, and supplies. Report maintenance needs and assist with equipment setup and calibration. Keep records, reports, and assist in training staff and students. Attend meetings as required.
