Under the general direction of IS leadership, responsible for design, implementation, and maintenance of Epic solutions and related third‑party integrated applications. Contributes to requirement definition processes, use documentation, testing, troubleshooting, upgrades, and report development. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), advises and supports IS staff, customers, and stakeholders on product use and direction, and may assist leadership with vendor relationships.

• Contribute to the achievement of established department goals and objectives, adhering to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Comply with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Function as a Subject Matter Expert when leading and/or supporting project activities which may include peer review, problem‑solving with peers, and IS cross‑functional staff. May participate in peer training for new associates.
• Monitor and test ongoing production performance to ensure appropriate operations in terms of response time and storage capacity. Perform required tasks to back up and monitor application assets to ensure continuity in service as required for Epic service line applications.
• Monitor customer utilization of applications to determine if application features are being used appropriately.
• Proactively assess and identify the need to upgrade supporting infrastructure and recommend changes as required.
• Coordinate and conduct the testing of software updates/fixes and routine maintenance. Validate that systems operate and perform properly through controlled unit, system integration, and volume testing. Organize test scenarios into test plans. Provide support as the SME during go‑live events and post‑implementation reviews.
• Coordinate the development of user and application support documentation to facilitate optimal use of applications. Facilitate and develop updates to support documentation in designated repositories. Ensure support documentation is consistent with service line processes.
• Actively participate in and/or lead meetings/committees and/or multi‑disciplinary quality and service improvement teams in support of department activities. May represent the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
• Develop ad‑hoc and standard reports using system report writer or other tools to meet customer needs. Assist and guide users in developing ad‑hoc reports.
• Document current business processes to aid in process redesign. Revise or develop new processes that utilize the capabilities provided by new information technology to achieve increased efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
• Exhibit extensive experience in current technology trends and developments in the healthcare industry to serve as a resource for the IS department stakeholders and customers.
• Implement improvements, enhancements, updates, and modifications for Epic solutions. Execute project tasks including development of project work plans, resource plans, schedules, costs, administrative reports, and acceptance criteria. Facilitate and maintain requirements analysis, functional specification definition, and design processes, and implementation and testing of enhancements. Coordinate technical IS associates and user departments.
• Maintain Epic solutions databases and ensure quality maintenance of data dictionaries and master files. Monitor file size and integrity and administer database design and development as appropriate. Periodically review software with customers, stakeholders, and vendors to evaluate software utilization and effectiveness.
• Lead application tasks and/or projects using project management principles and tools. Complete special projects. Maintain project documentation according to PMO standards. Coordinate vendor resources in the implementation of new software and/or application upgrades and enhancements.
