Sr. Database Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Sr. Database Engineer to join a family-owned enterprise healthcare organization in the Greater Baltimore area on a full-time basis
. This role focuses on designing and implementing enterprise-level database architecture, security, and ETL solutions to ensure performance, scalability, and compliance.

• Design and implement database architecture, security, and ETL processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align database strategies with business needs.
• Evaluate and implement new database technologies, including cloud solutions.
• Ensure high availability, reliability, and disaster recovery planning.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and optimize queries.
• Define and enforce data security standards (encryption, obfuscation).
• Support BI and data warehousing initiatives.

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration and architecture.
• Expertise in T‑SQL, stored procedures, and Power Shell scripting.
• Experience with high availability solutions (Always On, replication).
• Knowledge of Azure SQL and cloud database environments.
• Familiarity with data protection tools and platforms (Comm Vault, Rubrik, Veeam).
• Preferred: VMware, Active Directory, large datasets, ETL (SSIS), Power BI.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
