We are seeking a dynamic Nurse Manager to lead our Labor and Delivery (L&D) Unit at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center (HCMC) in Columbia, MD.
HCMC is a premier hospital delivering more than 2,500 babies each year. The unit plays a key role in providing an exceptional birthing experience.
What You Will DoAs the Manager of Nursing for Labor & Delivery, you’ll lead a multidisciplinary team and ensure an exceptional birthing experience trusted by parents‑to‑be. You will advocate for resources, promote efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate nursing care, facilitate an interactive management atmosphere, and develop collegial relationships among staff.
You will create a learning environment that is open, respectful, and shared to improve health outcomes. You will contribute to strategic planning, day‑to‑day operations, standards of care, and attainment of organizational goals. You will collaborate with the nurse executive and others in planning, innovation, and evaluation.

- Graduate of an accredited program of professional nursing.
- Master’s degree in Nursing or related field required. If not in nursing, must hold BSN.
- Qualified applicants may start with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and must complete a Master’s degree in nursing or related field within 6 months of starting. Minimum progress: 9 credits per calendar year.
- Minimum of five (5) years clinical experience in healthcare setting required, of which at least three (3) years must include administrative and supervisory responsibilities or equivalent.
- Current licensure as a registered nurse by the State of Maryland.
- Must maintain current CPR certification.
- Nationally recognized certification in nursing administration or an appropriate specialty preferred.
Minimum $56.34/hour – Maximum $87.32/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
