Howard County General Hospital is now “Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center” and cares for a range of patients with severe health conditions. Our highly specialized Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is dedicated to adult patients requiring intensive monitoring and care—including after surgery or due to medical conditions such as cardiac care—and works closely with the Special Care Unit (SCU).
Job Overview
As a Registered Nurse in the ICU, you will care for critically ill patients with complex medical and surgical problems.
Darlene Norton serves as the Nurse Manager and has a proven track record of effective leadership. Darlene began her career at Johns Hopkins Hospital as a PCT, completed nursing school, and worked as a nurse in the CCU, earning promotions to Lead Clinical RN and Assistant Nurse Manager in 2019. She now oversees three vital units: the Intensive Care Unit, the Special Care Unit (IMCU), and Interventional Radiology and Cardiac Cath Nursing.

Requirements- BSN Preferred.
- RNs without a BSN must enroll in a BSN program within 6 months and complete the degree within 4 years of their start date.
- Previous specialty clinical experience preferred for specialty units.
- Current Maryland RN license or licensure in a compact state that allows practice in Maryland.
- CPR required.
- ACLS required.

Salary Range:
Minimum $37.13/hour – Maximum $57.87/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
