The Data Direct Networks Technology Center seeking an Associate Firmware Engineer to design, develop and maintain embedded storage firmware for our SFA product line. The ideal candidate will be involved with all aspects of the embedded software development process and will work with other engineers collaborating on the architecture, design and implementation of storage system features and new storage platforms. This is a hybrid role and candidate is required in the Columbia, Maryland office 3 to 4 days a week.

• Design, develop, and test firmware features for the SFA storage controllers.
• Isolate and resolve defects.
• Collaborate with local and remote team members.
• Be involved with all phases of the development life cycle including design documentation and unit test implementation as required.

• BS or advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Entry-level with 1 year of experience with embedded firmware development
• Experience in C would be beneficial.
• Excellent oral and written communications skills.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills.

• Experience in Perl or Python
• Experience with phases of the development life cycle
• Experience with agile development processes and scrum teams
• Experience with cross-site development
• Experience with source code control and defect tracking systems

Salary Range for this role: $64,387.00 - $

If your application passes this stage, you will be invited to a 30-minute interview during which a member of our team will ask some basic questions. If you clear the interview, you will enter the main process, which can consist of up to four interviews in total:

• Coding assessment:
  Often in a language of your choice.
• Systems design:
  Translate high-level requirements into a scalable, fault-tolerant service (depending on role).
• Real-time problem-solving:
  Demonstrate practical skills in a live problem-solving session.
• Meet and greet with the wider team.
• Our goal is to finish the main process in 2-3 weeks at most.
