American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift position at a busy teaching hospital, requiring MO or compact RN license and 2 years of experience.
Details- Medical Specialties unit with 57-bed max capacity serving internal medicine patients with diverse diagnoses
- Rooms equipped with video monitoring, sitter capability, ceiling lifts, and bariatric accommodations
- Charge nurse and supervisor present on every shift
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Average patient ratios of 1:5 (days) and 1:6 (nights), with occasional increases to 1:6 days and 1:7 nights
- Mandatory floating to MS and MS/Tele units
- Cerner charting system preferred
- 36 or 48 hour contracts available
- Local candidates accepted
- Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required; CPI certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of experience required, with consideration given to candidates with 1.5 years of quality Med/Surg experience
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line management required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and telemetry preferred
- Experience with respiratory care including oxygen administration and non-invasive airway management
- Wound care and isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required
- Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs
- Ability to work in a healthcare facility with routine exposure to contagious illnesses
- Provide direct patient care for a wide range of medical diagnoses on a high-acuity internal medicine unit
- Actively mentor and precept peers and nursing students
- Required to work 50% of holidays falling within the contract period
- Rotating shifts, weekend work, and inclement weather coverage required
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates residing 51-74 miles from the facility may be offered a local rate; those within 50 miles are not eligible
- Local candidates will not be eligible for contract extensions beyond the initial assignment
- Maximum RTO of 10 days, with none permitted during the first week due to orientation
- Non-billable orientation modules (4-6 hours average) required during orientation and annually
