American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a day shift position requiring an active MO or compact license and at least 1.5-2 years of Med/Surg experience.

• Medical Specialties unit with a 57-patient max capacity serving internal medicine patients with a wide range of diagnoses
• Rooms equipped with video monitoring, sitter rooms, ceiling lifts, and bariatric accommodations
• Charge nurse and supervisor present on every shift
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
• Average patient ratios of 1:5 on days (up to 1:6) and 1:6 on nights (up to 1:7)
• Mandatory floating to MS and MS/Tele units, including Patient Observer/Sitter duties as needed
• Cerner charting system preferred but not required

• Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; CPI certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience preferred, though 1.5 years of Med/Surg experience will be considered for quality candidates
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC line and port management, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and telemetry
• Experience with respiratory care including HFNC, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy management
• Wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE knowledge required
• Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs

• Provide direct mentorship and clinical preceptorship to peers and students
• Work in a 24/7 healthcare facility with routine exposure to contagious illnesses
• Rotating shifts, holiday coverage, and work during inclement weather required
• Must work 50% of holidays falling within the contract period
• Local candidates accepted, though those within 50 miles are not eligible; candidates residing 51-74 miles qualify for local rate
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• 36 or 48 hour contract options available
• Local candidates will not be eligible for extensions beyond the initial contract
