Brief Description

The New and Used Vehicle Sales Consultants are directly responsible for selling new and used vehicles at dealership gross profit, volume and customer satisfaction standards.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts self in a manner which is consistent with guaranteeing satisfaction to customers.
  • Determines each customer’s vehicle needs by asking questions and listening.
  • Demonstrates new vehicles (includes test drives).
  • Delivers new vehicles to customers. This process ensures that the customer understands the vehicle’s operating features, warranty and paperwork, and it lays the foundation for customer loyalty.
  • Attends sales meetings.
  • Maintains an owner follow-up system that encourages repeat and referral business and contributes to customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains prospect development system.
  • Keeps abreast of new products, features, accessories, etc., and their benefit to customers.
  • Establishes personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity and devises a strategy to meet those goals.
  • Reports to the New or Used Vehicle Sales Manager regarding objectives, planned activities, reviews and analyses.
  • Reviews and analyzes actions at the end of each day, week, month and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively.
  • Understands the terminology of the automobile business and keeps abreast of technological changes in the product.
  • Knows and understands equity and values and has the ability to explain depreciation to the customer.

    Knows and understands the federal, state and local laws, which govern retail auto sales.
  • Introduces customers to Service Department personnel to emphasize the quality and efficiency of the dealership’s service operations.
  • Completes monthly manufacturer trainings to stay certified. Some have in store trainings occasionally throughout the year.
Requirements

Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information, both written and oral. High School diploma or the equivalent. Valid in-state driver’s license. Excellent communication skills. Ability to sell a minimum quota according to dealership standards.

Preferences

Prior auto sales experience.

Work Requirements

Monday-Friday/Saturday

Occasional overtime may be required.
