Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting, Accounting Manager

Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite
Salary: $80,000–$110,000
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to join our team in Columbia, South Carolina. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys getting into the details, solving problems, and taking ownership of the accounting function.
The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and strong experience with cost accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close. This individual will be responsible for managing multiple bank accounts and ensuring accurate and timely reconciliations while diving into the weeds when necessary to identify and resolve discrepancies.
We are looking for someone who is outgoing, personable, and a strong communicator who can work effectively with both accounting and operational teams.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage and maintain accurate general ledger accounts and supporting schedules.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations across multiple bank accounts, researching and resolving discrepancies.
Support the full month-end and year-end close processes.
Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
Perform detailed cost accounting and analyze costs, variances, and trends.
Analyze financial data and investigate unusual transactions or variances.
Assist with financial reporting and provide meaningful insight into accounting results.
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
Partner with operations and other departments to understand financial activity and resolve accounting issues.
Assist with audits and provide supporting schedules and documentation as needed.
Take ownership of accounting projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
5–8 years of progressive accounting experience.
Strong cost accounting experience required.
Experience managing and reconciling multiple bank accounts.
Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Outgoing, approachable personality with the ability to build relationships across departments.
Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Must be willing to work fully onsite in Columbia, South Carolina.
The ideal candidate is someone who doesn't just review the numbers from a distance — they get into the weeds and figure out what's happening. This person should be comfortable digging through transactions, reconciling accounts, investigating variances, and working directly with operations to solve problems.
Strong technical accounting skills are important, but we're equally interested in someone who is energetic, hands-on, collaborative, and confident communicating with people throughout the organization.
