Position: Program Assistant - AmeriCorps Seniors (PT-Program Assistant I)

Supports the Ameri Corps Seniors department by providing the Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs with administrative and special project support. This position assists in clerical and programmatic duties and has responsibility for office organization, following established methods, procedures and policies involving some independent judgment in carrying out tasks.

Additional Information: This is a part-time, temporary grant funded, non-exempt position, hourly up to 27 hours per week. SRI compensation schedule 14. Reports to Director of Ameri Corps Seniors. Employee must complete a Criminal History Check (national sex offender check, state background check, fingerprints).

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides administrative support to program staff, including record keeping, mailing correspondence, in-person customer service, and documentation review.
  • Helps to conduct telephone calls for the program, including routine communication with volunteers, referral stations, caregivers, potential clients and clients.
  • Supports with planning and implementation of orientation, in-service training, and recognition events, to include scheduling speakers, ordering food, copying materials, setup, sign-in table, and cleanup.
  • Assists with volunteer and client assessments and surveys.
  • Records information into the Volunteer Reporter database.
  • Assembles information packets, handbooks, mailings/cards, and other materials.
  • Communicates any issues or potential issues with volunteers, clients, caregivers or referral stations with program director.
  • Other duties and tasks as required by the Executive Director or Ameri Corps Seniors Director, or as required to fulfill the mission of the organization.
  • Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent, required; associate’s degree or higher, preferred.
    • Customer service experience required, with strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Must be dependable and courteous in a fast-paced environment.
    • Word processing and computer skills required.
    • Must be able to lift, bend and carry up to 25 lbs for 100 feet.
