Job Description:

NVIT anticipates the need for term instructors to teach Indigenous Early Childhood Education (IECE) courses and invites applications from qualified candidates. NVIT regularly provides IECE courses through the Community Education department across the province. Community-based offerings vary in delivery and the schedule is mutually agreed upon. We are posting to develop a Human Resource bank for IECE Instructors for new and upcoming course deliveries;

course offerings are subject to sufficient student enrolment.

Requirements/

Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a related field. ECE Certificate and Diploma mandatory in Undergraduate Degree. Preference is given to BC Certificate and Diploma;
  • Experience working with children 3 to 12 years of age;
  • Experience working in group daycare, head start, or ECE development center or organization (centers that follow BC licensing regulations);
  • Experience in classroom teaching and learning practices with Indigenous adult learners at a college or university level;
  • Strong team player with excellent human relations skills – faculty members are expected to contribute positively to the life of the school and community;
  • Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous ways of knowing
