Broadcast Engineer

WACH-Columbia, SC has an excellent opportunity for a Full-Time Broadcast Engineer. This role acts as a key liaison between the engineering team, leadership, and station personnel. We seek a dynamic individual to enhance our engineering team! Responsibilities include maintaining computers, servers related to television transmission, video automation systems, and supporting broadcast equipment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain and repair broadcast and supporting equipment
• Support server, network security, and network services management
• Assist with transmitter maintenance
• Provide hardware/software support for PCs and Macs
• Address maintenance and repair requests
• Respond to facilities maintenance issues
• Handle unexpected or late-night engineering emergencies
• Act as a subject matter expert on equipment and technology
• Support staff in the absence of the Chief Engineer
• Implement and maintain engineering systems

Requirements:

• Associates degree or higher in IT, electronics, or related field
• 2-4 years of broadcast experience
• Team-oriented attitude and dedication to quality
• Familiarity with Microsoft, Mac, and Linux OS
• Knowledge of hardware, system installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and LAN/WAN networking
• Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure
• Excellent communication skills
• Experience as a Master Control Operator is a plus
• Valid driver’s license

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Flexible schedule and on-call duties
• Ability to lift equipment under 50 pounds
• Work at the station regularly
• Support transmitter operations and network wiring
