OverviewThe Failure Analysis Process (FAP) Engineer is responsible for identifying and solving problems related to the body‑in‑white manufacturing process, ensuring high‑quality standards, and optimizing production efficiency. This role analyzes process data, troubleshoots issues, designs process improvements, and collaborates with quality, production, and cross‑functional teams to maintain consistent quality and meet product specifications.
Responsibilities Process Improvement & Problem Solving- Identify and troubleshoot manufacturing constraints.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to resolve process deviations and optimize body‑in‑white production techniques.
- Collaborate with the quality team to maintain quality standards throughout the production process.
- Monitor key process variables and collect data related to production efficiency and quality.
- Analyze process data to identify trends, root causes, and opportunities for optimization.
- Work with the quality control team to track the effectiveness of process improvements.
- Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to define specifications and enforce process standards.
- Provide technical support to production teams for smooth operations and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure materials/process meet specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of process changes, experiments, and troubleshooting activities.
- Prepare reports on process performance and improvements.
- Ensure documentation complies with company and regulatory standards.
- Train production and quality teams on new process improvements and best practices.
- Provide continuous process improvement guidance.
- Develop and implement procedures to minimize plant waste.
- Based in Columbia, South Carolina.
- Daily in‑office attendance, with regular in‑person meetings and events.
- Domestic and international travel required, approximately 10‑40 % of the time. Valid driver’s license and passport required.
- 5‑7+ years of automotive production and quality control experience, with hands‑on body‑in‑white production.
- Proficiency with VDA standards and experience in a greenfield or brownfield plant.
- Bachelor’s degree in automotive technology, quality, or 10 years of related technical experience.
- Strong understanding of automotive processes, materials, and equipment.
- Knowledge of VDA standards and process auditing techniques.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Attention to detail, organizational, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Hands‑on experience with electrical systems and mechanical assembly techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and quality management software.
- Valid driver’s license and passport.

This full‑time exempt position offers a base salary between $95,000 and $120,000, with an annual performance bonus program. Final salary is based on experience and skills.
