Patient Access Manager (MCP)
MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina.
Job Responsibilities- Performs routine and specialized diagnostic medical laboratory tests as requested by healthcare staff according to established protocols and procedures.
- Prepares specimens for microscopic examination or testing procedures.
- Operates automated laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
- Performs quality control and assurance procedures.
- Records laboratory results in the specified system.
- Follows all required privacy, safety, and biohazard procedures and standards.
- Pre-analytical processing of biological specimens for testing in the Fast Flow Lab.
- Data entry of client demographic information and test orders into the laboratory computer system.
- Perform and interpret analysis on clinical specimens submitted for testing.
- Perform quality control and maintenance procedures.
- Evaluate new methodologies.
- Train new personnel and students.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Associate degree in clinical laboratory technology and certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or National Certifying Agency (NCA). If not certified, must be registry‑eligible and successfully obtain certification within the first year of employment.

- Ability to perform job functions while standing and sitting, walking, climbing stairs, and working in confined or cramped spaces.
- Ability to perform duties from kneeling positions, bend, twist at the waist, squat, and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
- Ability to lift and lower objects weighing 50 lbs. from the floor or within a 36‑inch reach.
- Ability to lift from 36” to overhead 25 lbs. and exert up to 50 lbs. of force as required for patient transfer.
- Good vision, hearing, and tactile, olfactory, and respiratory function sufficient for respirator use.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder motions, reach overhead, and use lower extremities for balance and coordination.
- Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and in a latex‑safe environment.
- Ability to manage stressful situations effectively.
- Ability to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, with one or both eyes.
