Heavy Equipment Technician
Transdev North America in Richland, SC is seeking a Heavy Equipment Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines across various vehicles and equipment. The role requires expertise in ensuring safety, efficiency, and longevity for our fleet.
Compensation & Benefits- Competitive compensation: $18.00 – $30.00 per hour
- $0.25 per hour for each ASE certification you possess or obtain
- Vacation: minimum 2 weeks
- Sick days: 5 days
- Holidays: 12 days (8 standard, 4 floating)

- Company‑paid ASE testing, training materials, and tool reimbursement
- Perform vehicle maintenance to Transdev standards
- Diagnose all phases of vehicle and equipment repair and select appropriate action for repairs
- Ensure work orders are completed accurately
- Evaluate completed work prior to release, seeking supervisor approval where required
- Ensure safe use of power and hand‑held tools
- Perform road calls and emergency services as necessary
- Move vehicles safely between job and work area
- Communicate professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors
- Actively participate in safety or educational training as required
- Maintain continuous ASE re‑certification to remain in job classification
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; technical training preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- ASE certifications preferred; must obtain 2 ASEs within 6 months of employment
- Experience with diagnostic computers, heavy line equipment repairs, and heavy truck equipment
- Experience monitoring and meeting preventive maintenance schedules and operating shop repair equipment
- Appropriate mechanic’s tool set
- Excellent communication skills
- Subject to DOT drug testing and physical if applicable; DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 applies
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; 100% of the job performed outside and may be remote
- Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances on sloped or uneven ground
- Push and pull objects and lift materials up to 50 lbs (with or without assistance); occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to retrieve items stored at ground level
- Withstand exposure to dust, vehicle fumes, and noise
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future
- Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen
