Job Title:

Youth Care Specialist

Blanket Fort Hope is seeking caring and dependable Youth Care Specialists to work part-time in a Christian-based group home for girls who have experienced trauma. The Youth Care Specialists provide safe, compassionate supervision, care, and support to residents, fostering healing, restoration, and growth. The role involves nurturing each resident’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being while modeling Christ-like and trauma-informed behavior, aligned with our faith-based mission.

They work closely with a team of professionals to support each child's unique needs and promote hope and stability.

Position Duties:
  • Trauma-Informed Care: Apply trauma-informed practices to understand and address the unique needs of each youth, creating a supportive environment that promotes healing.
  • Spiritual Guidance: Integrate Christian principles into daily interactions, providing spiritual support and encouraging faith development.
  • Daily Living: Oversee routines such as mobility, medication, meals, homework, laundry, and personal hygiene, fostering structure and security.
  • Behavior Management: Use positive discipline techniques and Christian principles to promote growth and understanding.
  • Emotional Support: Offer empathetic listening and support to help residents navigate emotions and build resilience.
  • Family Engagement: Communicate with families and guardians, providing updates and collaborating on care strategies.
  • Collaboration: Work with healthcare professionals, social workers, educators, and therapists to develop individualized plans.
  • Emergency Response: Respond calmly and efficiently to medical and emotional emergencies, following safety protocols.
Required

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework in social sciences, healthcare, or related fields is preferred. A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Nursing, Psychology, Education, Child Development, or related field is preferred, or certification as a Nursing Assistant or Pharmacy Technician. Experience may substitute for degrees and certifications.
  • Prior experience working with children, especially in behavioral healthcare, trauma-informed, or faith-based settings, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills, including clear speaking and writing, and effective listening.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR.
