Seasonal Tax Professional (Temporary) – Join Goodwill Industries of the Southern Rivers team.
The mission of Goodwill Industries Southern Rivers is Developing People, Changing Lives, and Building Communities. Our VITA program provides free tax preparation and financial wellness education to eligible taxpayers.
Responsibilities- Complete and successfully certify in tax law training, including the use of electronic filing software, to provide free tax return preparation for eligible taxpayers.
- Prepare tax returns after being cleared by intake & interview station.
- Review tax returns completed by fellow seasonal tax professionals and volunteer tax preparers, ensuring error‑free, high‑quality service.
- Assist volunteers and clients with questions accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Assist Site Coordinator with prompt transmission of tax returns in accordance with IRS guidelines and Goodwill best practices.
- Assist Site Coordinator with timely resolution of rejected tax returns by contacting clients by phone, meeting with them when they return, explaining the reason for the rejection, and working to resolve and resubmit the return.
- Inform clients about additional financial services offered by Goodwill and in the community.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested by immediate supervisor or Goodwill
SR leadership.
- Monday: 9am – 6pm
- Tuesday: 9am – 7pm
- Wednesday: 9am – 6pm
- Thursday: 9am – 6pm
- Friday: 9am – 6pm
- Saturday: 9am – 6pm
- Ability to work 30 hours weekly throughout the tax season.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to pass a background and drug screen.
- Successfully complete and pass the IRS Certification listed below:
- Volunteer Standards of Conduct
- Intake/Interview & Quality Review
- Advance
- Military
- Ability to work with people with disabilities and be understanding.
- High level of enthusiasm, motivation, persistence, and a positive attitude.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with a diverse audience.
- Ability to use a computer.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office:
Word, Excel, and Outlook. - Ability to maintain confidentiality.

- Must successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen and a federal background check.
