St. Francis-Emory Healthcare, a376-bed facility located in Columbus, GA is seeking a Hospitalist Medical Director to provide both clinical care and strategic leadership for the hospitalist program, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care while supporting operational excellence. We are seeking an experienced physician who has a passion for leadership and can motivate and mentor.
We are a level 1 emergency cardiac care center with excellent support and 24/7 intensivist coverage with an accredited ACGME three-year internal medicine residency program.
Position Details- Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m
- Approximately 60% clinical / 40% administrative
- Patient volume averages 10–12 patients per day
- Role may evolve based on organizational and system priorities
- Provide medical and administrative leadership for the hospitalist service
- Deliver direct patient care while maintaining a visible leadership presence
- Recruit, onboard, mentor, and retain hospitalist physicians and APPs
- Coordinate clinical schedules and ensure adequate coverage
- Lead hospitalist meetings and serve as the primary liaison with hospital administration, medical staff, and departments
- Champion quality, safety, and patient experience initiatives
- Monitor and support performance metrics, documentation standards, and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with emergency medicine, nursing, case management, and ancillary teams to improve efficiency and throughput
- Participate in strategic planning, program development, and system initiatives
- Represent hospitalists on committees and in leadership forums
