Overview
Columbus Technical College seeks an individual to serve as a part‑time Instructor in our EMS and Paramedicine programs. This individual will be responsible for the program’s classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction. This position will also require evaluating student progress in attaining goals and objectives and ensuring all safety and security requirements are met during training sessions. Additional duties include maintaining program accreditation requirements, preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports, attending advisory committee meetings, and completing mandatory staff development training.
This position is part‑time/exempt.
- May be required to teach high school students
- May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County, Stewart County, Quitman County, Chattahoochee County, Harris County, and Talbot County)
- May require travel
- Teach EMS courses and instruct students using a variety of instruction modalities
- Follow state standards in developing program and course outlines, goals, and objectives
- Evaluate students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives
- Request and maintain supplies and equipment
- Meet with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss student instructional programs and other issues impacting student progress
- Ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training areas>
- Respond promptly to administrative requests
- Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts
- Maintain program accreditation requirements as appropriate
- Strong time management and organization skills
- Effective written and oral communication
- Keen observation, supervision, and evaluation skills
- General computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel)
- Involvement in professional activities/organizations
- Other job‑related duties as assigned
- Must be currently licensed in Georgia as a Paramedic OR RN, RRT, NP, PA, or MD/DO
- Must be currently licensed in Georgia as an Instructor/Coordinator (AEMT)
- Must have an associate degree or higher from a regionally accredited higher education institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or be actively working toward earning their associate degree in any major
- Must have current NREMT certification
- Must have current CPR and ACLS certifications
- Must have completed all Teaching Internships for EMS Instructor/Coordinator requirements
- Must have completed an approved EMS Instructional Preparation Curriculum Prep Course within the previous three years
- Postsecondary teaching experience
- Currently licensed in Georgia as an Instructor/Coordinator (Paramedic)
- Salary is commensurate with education and experience. No benefits.
