We are looking for a driven and innovative Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Pratt & Whitney Columbus Engine Center. In this impactful role, you’ll serve as a vital connection between two leading RTX businesses, directly influencing both Commercial and Military Engine programs while working at the forefront of advanced aerospace technology.

As a key technical liaison, you’ll collaborate with the Disassembly, Assembly, and Test (DAT) teams to address day-to-day challenges and provide solutions across Collins Engine Control Systems (ECS) product lines. Your responsibilities will include managing engineering recommendations for In-Process Findings (IPFs) and resolving technical concerns during engine overhaul activities, all while driving fast-paced resolutions to critical component issues.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic, customer-facing environment and is eager to take on challenges that make a tangible impact on high-profile programs. If you’re ready to bring your expertise, creativity, and passion to a role where you can truly make a difference, we want to hear from you!

  • Perform lead on-site engineering duties for Collins Aerospace hardware investigations or inquiries at the Columbus Engine Center.
  • Provide substantiated technical evaluations and dispositions for defective components, referencing both Collins and Pratt & Whitney blueprint requirements, as well as production and field limits.
  • Direct support activities for Power & Controls - Engine Control Systems (ECS) components as they progress through the CEC Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) shop.
  • Initiate quality and engineering improvement activities throughout all MRO phases for GTF engines (PW1100, PW1500, PW1900) and F117 programs.
  • Utilize RTX CORE Methods and Tools to conduct comprehensive investigations into product non-quality events and support Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) processes as needed.
  • Facilitate the monthly creation and reporting of component removal trends and quality issues to share with the Integrated Program Management Team across multiple disciplines.
  • Provide technical recommendations to the worldwide MRO Network across various functions and disciplines.
  • Develop and maintain new relationships with engine centers across the GTF MRO Network.
  • Support the F135 program at the West Palm Beach and Middletown Engine Centers as critical issues arise.
  • Create standard work guidelines for the on-site engineering representative roles at customer locations.
  • Represent Collins Aerospace - East (Hamilton Sundstrand) at GTF Network customer conferences and deliver presentations on investigations and component improvement projects as needed.
  • Research supplier specifications and processes to approve or substantiate rework or repair of hardware.
  • Interpret Make/Buy item tolerances and features in part drawings. Develop and incorporate new ways to advance technology and improve processes as an individual and as a team contributor. Embrace a continuous improvement philosophy.
  • Professionally represent the Collins Engineering Partnership Office (EPO) and provide routine status updates to the Windsor Locks, CT Program Office and Chief Engineers Office as applicable.
  • Foster collaboration between engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to optimize solutions for repair or rework to ensure consistency across product development stages.
