Med Lab Scientist II, PRN

Overview

Independently performs laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained and demonstrated competency. Performs laboratory testing on patients of all ages using professional knowledge of laboratory procedures, executing, interpreting, and analyzing in an accurate and timely manner. In addition, oversees the technical activities of the section or department in the absence of the lead or supervisor.

• Independently perform laboratory procedures for which the technologist has been trained.
• Execute, interpret, and analyze laboratory testing on patients of all ages accurately and timely.
• Oversee technical activities of the section or department when the lead or supervisor is absent.

• Education
  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus a sufficient number of college and/or technical school courses and clinical training to satisfy the requirements for testing and certification as a medical technologist by an approved certifying agency. (Required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in clinical laboratory science, biomedical science, medical technology or a related life/biological science (biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.). (Preferred)
• Work Experience
  • 3 years in a clinical laboratory setting. (Required)
• Licenses and Certifications
  • Certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the ASCP, AMT, or AAB in accordance with State of Georgia regulations. (Required)
  • Newly relocated to Georgia may be temporarily classified as a technologist for eighteen (18) months to complete an approved qualifying examination. (Required)
  • AAB provisional certification is not accepted.
