Overview: The Lead Staff Pharmacist assumes essential duties and responsibilities in the absence of pharmacy managers to ensure the standard of patient care. Serves as part of the pharmacy leadership team and assists the Director with business aspects of the department. Responsible for managing the pharmacy workflow under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager, preparing monthly staffing schedules, and overseeing distribution, documentation, compounding, and medication therapy monitoring for patients across all age groups.
Responsibilities- Assume essential duties in the absence of pharmacy managers to maintain patient care standards.
- Serve as part of the pharmacy leadership team and assist the Director with business aspects of the department.
- Manage pharmacy workflow under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and prepare monthly staffing schedules for pharmacists.
- Perform duties of distribution, documentation, and compounding related to drugs, solutions, and equipment to meet patient and staff needs.
- Review, compound, dispense, and monitor medication therapy for infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including dosing variations, nutritional needs, and disease states.
- Provide oversight for students and all pharmacy technician activities, including monitoring orders filled by auxiliary personnel.
- Assume responsibility for competency and self‑development in professional pharmacy practice.
- Perform patient‑focused care clinical activities throughout the hospital to provide patients with optimal medication therapy.
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree – Graduate of an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy with a Bachelors or higher in Pharmacy (Required).
Work Experience:
- 2 years of hospital pharmacy experience (Required).
Licenses and
Certifications:
- Licensed as a registered pharmacist in the state of Georgia (Required).
