Job Description
This role is field-based; candidates should live within a reasonable distance from the primary city. Talent will be hired at a level commensurate with experience.

Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field, manage sales performance, and effectively handle assigned territory and targeted accounts. Build strong customer relationships and a customer‑needs‑solving capability to maximize short‑ and long‑term sales performance. Operate within Abb Vie’s business code of conduct, policies, and all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives to meet or exceed those goals.
  • Create pre‑call plans and execute post‑call evaluations to continuously improve sales performance. Effectively handle objections and concerns, consistently gaining logical, reasonable calls to action to close every sales call.
  • Proactively and continuously serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted customer relationships and achieve win‑win agreements between Abb Vie and customers.
  • Develop and execute a call plan that achieves scheduled call metrics and optimizes coverage and frequency to key customers to maximize access and sales opportunities.
  • Continuously build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments/dynamics, accounts, disease, product, clinical and sales expertise, and share this intelligence with the in‑field team, brand team, and sales manager to achieve alignment, anticipate changes, and optimize brand strategy.
  • Differentiate Abb Vie’s value proposition with health providers; identify, develop, and maintain disease‑state experts and speakers/advocates to maximize brand performance.
  • Drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material handling equipment.
  • Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business (or equivalent industry experience).
    • At least five years of industry experience with three or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry if the bachelor’s degree is not held; a high school diploma or GED is required.
    • Advanced scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge; recognized as an expert resource by stakeholders.
    • Strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools; strategic and critical thinking capabilities.
    • Ability to adapt to customer styles/behaviors and leverage findings to develop winning sales strategies.
    • Proactive, innovative ideas and solutions to maximize business opportunities and address challenges.
    • Effective operation in a matrix environment; influence others and build collaborative partnerships.
    • Leadership experience and strong interpersonal skills, including peer coaching.
    • Preferred:
      Proven sales performance record in therapeutic areas; experience in physician/account‑based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing.
    • English language proficiency verbally and in writing.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable health‑care industry representative (HCIR) credentialing requirements.
    • Valid driver’s license; pass pre‑employment drug screening; meet safe driving requirements.

    Key Stakeholders

    • External:
      Specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other stakeholders within the brand plan.
    • Internal:
      In‑field team members, Sales Management (DSM), Marketing Management, Training, Customer Excellence, and Brand Plan stakeholders.

    Additional Information

  • Compensation range: $78,500.00 – $ (variable). Individual compensation within this range depends on geography and other factors.
  • Benefits include paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick), medical/dental/vision insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
  • Eligible to participate in short‑term and long‑term incentive programs.
  • Note:

    Pay is considered earned, vested, and determinable only when earned. The Company reserves absolute discretion over bonus, commission, incentive, and benefit determinations.
