Telecommunications Supervisor – Field Operations East & National

Position #16139 – Full time, mid‑senior level, Information Technology function within Southern Company Services.

The Supervisor, Telecom for Field Operations in Georgia Southwest oversees approximately eight Telecom Technicians and one Telecom Analyst who are geographically dispersed throughout the southwest territory of Georgia. The territory includes the counties of Troup, Meriwether, Pike, Lamar, Monroe, Jasper, Putnam, Baldwin, Wilkinson, Laurens, Dodge, Wilcox, Ben Hill, Irwin, Berrien, Lanier, Echols, Lowndes, Brooks, Thomas, Grady, Decatur, Seminole, Early, Clay, Quitman, Stewart, Chattahoochee, Muscogee, and Harris, and all areas within the perimeter boundaries of those counties.

Responsibilities include providing leadership and influence through active participation in Field Operations activities, leveraging business, technical and consulting resources to ensure the timely delivery of effective business solutions, and performing hands‑on installation, maintenance, break‑fix and project support for Southern Company’s voice, data and telecommunications transport networks.

• Two‑year degree in a business or technology‑related field, or equivalent military training, is required.
• Preference will be given to candidates with a four‑year degree or nearing completion of a four‑year program in a business or technology‑related field.
• Candidates with a minimum of two years of formal people‑leadership experience within a business or technology related field may be considered in lieu of the education requirement.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a technology‑related field is required.
• Preference will be given to candidates who have telecommunications, field operations, or similar experience.

• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork with a track record of achieving business results through collaboration.
• Working knowledge of voice, data and telecommunications transport networks.
• Understanding of Southern Company customers’ business functions and the role of Field Operations and the Technology Organization.
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills, including workforce resource management and continuous improvement.
• Relationship building skills fostering productive partnerships with customers, peers and external vendors.
• Effective oral and written communication, able to translate technical issues into business terms.

• Frequent travel throughout the southwest territory of GA; attendance at meetings, training and on‑site events (internal and external) is required.
• A company vehicle will be provided; applicant must reside within the defined territory or within 30 miles of its border.
• Relocation assistance is available.
• Exempt/salaried position with typical Monday–Friday daytime hours (7 AM–4 PM or 8 AM–5 PM) and occasional after‑hours or weekend engagement.

• At least one year of verifiable driving experience with a valid driver’s license for the required class of vehicle.
• No revocation of driving privileges within 36 months or convictions of major traffic violations within 12 months.
• Consent to continuous monitoring of your Motor Vehicle Record.
