Work Designation.
  • If you live within 50 miles of the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be hybrid
    . This means you will be expected to work in the office for at least 60% of the work week. You will work from your home (within the continental US) for the remaining portion of the work week. Details of this schedule will be discussed with your leadership.
  • If you live more than 50 miles from the Aflac offices located in Columbus, GA or Columbia, SC, this role will be remote
    . This means you will be expected to work from your home, within the continental US. If the role is remote, there may be occasions that you are requested to come to the office based on business need. Any requests to come to the office would be communicated with you in advance.

What does it take to be successful in this role?
  • Extensive experience in software development and modern programming languages.
  • Leave management configuration experience in Workday.
  • Workday Wellness implementation experience a big plus.
  • Proven experience with Scrum and advanced Dev Ops methodologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and lead junior developers.
Education & Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or other related field.
  • Four or more years of programming experience.

Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Education & Experience Preferred
  • Master’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or other related field.
  • Workday configuration experience, leave configuration experience.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, test, development and optimization of customer-facing applications.
  • Collaborate in advanced stages of Scrum, ensuring smooth software delivery.
  • Enforce and improve code quality standards, particularly concerning resilience, data, and security.
  • Evaluate and incorporate modern programming languages and tools.
  • Adhere to coding standards for resilience, data, and security.
  • Review system requirements and business processes; code, test, debug and implement software solutions.
  • Participate in project planning sessions with clients, business analysts, and team members to analyze development requirements and make recommendations for moderate to complex systems.
  • Test and implement application modules from multiple systems the team has developed or modified, ensuring the application meets the needs of client and business.
  • Provide design recommendations, develop and integrate programs per written specifications; occasionally responsible for writing moderate to complex design specifications.
  • Make moderate to complex modifications to existing software applications and modules in accordance with written specifications and division standards.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Total Rewards

The salary range for this job is $96,960 - $140,000. This range is specific to the job and salary offers consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including, but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and peer compensation.
