Description:
Builds, repairs and prepares articles for testing and associated auxiliary equipment. Installs test articles into test structures, performs testing in accordance with set methods, and consistently provides accurate and reliable test results. Has an in‑depth understanding of the function and contribution of test equipment and the product under test. Configures and operates data acquisition systems, analyzes and reviews data for appropriateness, writes computer programs to assist in analysis, and maintains electronic files.
Performs test stand installation, troubleshooting and set‑ups; maintains laboratory equipment. Provides support and recommendations to engineering for equipment supplier evaluation and qualification, equipment and facility updates, and instrument specification. Conducts performance and reliability testing on multiple and single‑cylinder engines, components, systems and controls, diagnoses issues and initiates appropriate resolutions.
- Builds, repairs and prepares articles for testing.
- Installs test articles into test structures (cells, tables, rigs, etc.).
- Performs testing in accordance with established procedures and methods.
- Provides accurate and reliable test results.
- Configures and operates data acquisition systems and reviews data.
- Performs test stand installation, troubleshooting and set‑ups.
- Maintains laboratory equipment.
- Provides support/recommendations to engineering.
- Conducts performance and reliability testing on engines, components, systems and controls.
- Writes computer programs to assist in analysis.
- Builds, tears down and inspects rigs, engines and components.
- Creates sketches and fabricates necessary piping, tubing and brackets.
- Installs engine instrumentation in test cells and rigs.
- Designs, documents and executes test plans; prepares reports.
- Coordinates programs including planning, scheduling, ordering and tracking.
- Participates in maintenance of quality procedures and improvement projects.
- Leads presentations to customers and suppliers.
- Participates in audits and implements corrective actions.
- High school diploma or GED required; a relevant STEM field background preferred.
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field may be required.
- Significant relevant work experience or specialized skills obtained through education, training or on‑the‑job experience.
- Experience with test equipment, data acquisition and analysis.
- Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
- Strong problem‑solving, data reporting and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration applications.
- Ability to use common tools such as Calterm, Asset, Cyflex, etc.
- Expected to obtain forklift license and complete mandatory training (HSE, CLC courses, bottle training, LOTO).
- Expected to review time sheets weekly and purchase necessary tools for laboratory work.
High school diploma, certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent, or an associate’s degree in a relevant STEM field. Regional certification or two‑year associate degree may be required. Operating under export controls or sanctions regulations may require licensing. Candidates must pass all related testing.
ExperienceSignificant relevant work experience or specialized skills from education, training or on‑the‑job experience. Department of Labor certification or four‑year experience/education requirement via a bachelor's degree or an associate’s degree with at least two years of experience.
