Job Title: OBD Performance Tuning Engineer

Location: Columbus, IN

We are looking for analytically oriented engineers to work on performance tuning of diesel engine/aftertreatment diagnostics for state-of-the-art technology.

Responsibilities
  • Lead current product improvement investigations and projects that involve aftertreatment performance, emissions, on-board diagnostics (OBD), calibration, and/or control system software changes along with hardware interaction.
  • Use Matlab & Simulink, simulation, and data analysis for diagnostic and feature calibration tuning.
  • Features will be tuned to meet the ACI (Aftertreatment Component Integration) team Feature Review requirements.
  • Own FIRG (Failure Incident Reporting Group) issues related to owned diagnostics.
  • Follow the 7-Step problem‑solving process:
Identify the Problem, Identify and Rank Possible Causes, Take Short‑Term Action, Determine Failure Cause(s), Select and Verify the Solution, Implement Permanent Solution, and Monitor/Prevent Recurrence.
  • Utilize Matlab & Simulink to understand and tune diagnostic features for aftertreatment sensors and actuators.
  • Understand Simulink controls logic.
  • Have in‑depth understanding of OBD 3‑step review progress and adhere to that process.
  • Have calibration tuning experience for aftertreatment controls and drive each calibration through the maturity process.
  • Perform truck testing with engineering calibration tool logging and data analysis.
  • Analyze truck data (plots, presentation for design review).
  • Present review material in the respective forums in a logical way.
  • Analyze aftertreatment performance data.
  • Create software change requests for diagnostics if needed (e.g., new architecture causing new inputs to diagnostics thus requiring a software change).
Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant work history.
  • Strong technical, analytical, critical‑thinking, and leadership skills, and thrive in a dynamic, cross‑functional, team‑based work environment.
