Sales Engineer

Location: Columbus, IN or Knoxville, TN

Compensation: $70,000 ~ $100,000/year + bonus, based on experience and qualifications

Hours: 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

An industrial solutions provider supporting manufacturing customers throughout North America with production equipment, factory automation, control products, and other manufacturing solutions.

Japanese language ability required.

We are seeking a Sales Engineer to develop technical solutions for manufacturing customers, particularly involving production equipment, factory automation, and industrial control systems.

This role is well suited for professionals with experience at a machine builder, system integrator, or related industrial organization. Candidates from technical backgrounds such as controls engineering, equipment design, application engineering, or project management who are interested in transitioning into sales engineering are also encouraged to apply.

You will work directly with customers to identify manufacturing challenges and collaborate with engineers, manufacturers, and system integrators to develop solutions from initial concept through implementation.

• Identify customer production challenges, technical requirements, and equipment needs.
• Develop solutions involving production equipment, factory automation, control systems, and industrial products.
• Coordinate with engineers, equipment manufacturers, suppliers, and system integrators.
• Support projects from concept and planning through proposals, quotations, implementation, and completion.
• Provide consultative support for automation, labor reduction, and productivity improvement initiatives.
• Manage and develop existing customer relationships and identify new business opportunities.
• Coordinate technical/commercial proposals, project schedules, and progress.
• Provide technical support to internal sales personnel as needed.

Required:

• Expert Japanese and advanced professional English proficiency.
• Relevant professional experience in one or more of the following:
  • Machine builder or system integrator environment
  • Sales engineering, technical sales, or industrial sales
  • Factory automation, automated equipment, or production equipment
  • Controls, equipment design, application engineering, or project management
• Experience or knowledge involving industrial automation/control products such as PLCs, sensors, robotics, machine vision, safety equipment, or motion control systems.
• Ability to understand customer requirements and develop technical solutions.

Preferred:

• Experience proposing equipment, systems, or manufacturing solutions to industrial customers.
• Customer-facing technical or commercial experience.
• New business development experience.

• Academic background and field of study are flexible; relevant professional experience and industry knowledge are highly valued.
