-Warm Press Operator - 3rd shift role at NTN Bearing Corporation
The Forge Operator operates mechanical hot forge presses to produce forged parts made of steel. The operator coordinates the running of shears or saws to cut bar stock and induction heating units into billets before forging press operations. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Operate forging machines to perform hot forging by flattening, straightening, twisting, forming, drawing, upsetting, splitting, cutting, punching, piercing, bending, coining, or other operations to shape or form metal.
- Position and adjust dies on an anvil of forging machinery using overhead cranes or other devices and hand tools.
- Monitor equipment operation and correct minor problems.
- Maintain time and production records.
- Keep work area clean, neat and orderly during each workday.
- Recognize and comply with all safety rules.
- Work overtime as requested by supervisor or scheduled.
- Operate gas or oil-fired furnaces to heat metal to proper temperature prior to forging.
- Load and unload furnaces with automatic conveyors.
- Place heated or cold metal pieces on the die of the press or other forging machinery automatically.
- Assist Set‑Up Technician in die changeovers (if required).
- 2-5 years of forging experience preferred.
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Self‑starter with the ability to multitask.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good problem‑solving skills.
- High school diploma required.
- Lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
- Stand for extended periods and walk long distances, often on concrete or uneven surfaces and up and down steps.
- Perform repetitive tasks, including grasping, lifting, twisting and bending.
- Use hands, fingers and controls for quick, precise adjustments to machine controls.
- Operate levers, buttons, and controls with manual dexterity.
- Read gauges and safety indicators with good vision and attention to detail.
- Maintain focus and physical stamina throughout a fast‑paced workday.
- Maintain balance and move freely in tight spaces.
- Work in varying temperatures, exposure to manufacturing oils and fluids, and moderate noise levels.
- Forklift certification requirement applies if the role includes material handling duties.
