Job Summary

Utility Locators drive company vehicles to job sites and use digital utility maps, along with specialized equipment, to find underground cables, pipes, and other utilities to prevent damages and ensure safety within the excavation, landscaping, and construction process.

Job Responsibilities (Including, But Not Limited To)
  • Utilize mapping tools and location information with locating equipment to identify underground utilities including electric, gas, telephone, and other communication lines.
  • Indicate utility locations using paint and flags.
  • Represent Congruex in a positive and professional manner at all times.
  • Clean and maintain all company vehicles and equipment assigned for use.
  • Perform duties in standard and high‑risk areas.
  • Safely and successfully perform duties all year round.
  • Execute physical tasks required to successfully complete day‑to‑day operations.
  • Travel overnight to various sites as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required

Skills & Qualifications
  • Valid Driver’s License (unrestricted).
  • Pass a pre‑employment drug test and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
  • Basic computer skills.
  • At least 2 years of recent experience in underground utility locating.
  • Ability to operate all equipment safely and productively.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to interact with crew, leadership, and clients.
  • Function effectively as an integral part of a team.
  • Meet physical demands – lift and/or move 50–150 pounds and stand and walk lengthy distances (1+ miles) over uneven terrain.
  • Perform all work outdoors under inclement weather conditions.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Work outdoors under inclement weather conditions.
  • Maintain visual and audible contact with other crew members, moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects for safe coordination.
  • Work around heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Stand or walk for long periods of time.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Perform extensive bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting.
  • Wear safety boots, safety glasses, hard hat, and applicable safety gear.
Required Licenses/Certificates/Registrations
  • OSHA 10.
CDL Preferred

Strongly preferred but not required.
