Job Summary
The Psychologist provides trauma-informed psychological services to victims of domestic violence and other interpersonal crimes. This role focuses on clinical assessment, short-term therapeutic intervention, crisis stabilization support, and consultation with multidisciplinary staff to promote survivor safety, emotional stabilization, and long-term recovery.
Key ResponsibilitiesDirect Clinical Services:
- Conduct trauma-informed psychological assessments for adults and adolescents.
- Provide short-term, evidence-based therapeutic interventions focused on trauma recovery, emotional regulation, and coping strategies.
- Deliver individual counseling services addressing acute trauma symptoms, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, and crisis-related distress.
- Support survivors during periods of heightened risk, including safety planning in coordination with advocacy staff.
- Provide consultation to case managers and domestic violence specialists regarding client mental health needs and appropriate referrals.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case staffing to support coordinated, survivor-centered care.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with grant requirements, ethical standards, and confidentiality laws.
- Ensure services align allowable activities and do not duplicate services funded through other sources.
- Assist with outcome tracking related to emotional stabilization, engagement in services, and client progress.
- Adhere to ethical guidelines established by the American Psychological Association and applicable state laws.
- Maintain current licensure and complete required continuing education.
- Participate in required grant-related trainings and agency meetings as assigned.
- Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology from an accredited institution.
- Active, unrestricted licensure as a Psychologist in the State of Mississippi.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience providing trauma-informed clinical services.
- Demonstrated experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or interpersonal trauma.
Licensure/Certification s
- Training or certification in trauma-focused therapeutic modalities (e.g., Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, or similar).
- Primarily office-based and virtual service delivery with limited community-based engagement.
- Exposure to emotionally challenging situations involving victims of interpersonal violence.
