Extern-Nurse

Job Summary

Provides patient care under the direction of a registered nurse, performing those aspects of care learned and demonstrated in the nursing program in which the candidate is enrolled. The Extern‑Nurse will build a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing, and performs other duties as assigned.

• Assess the patient under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Contribute to the plan of care under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Implement the plan of care under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Participate in the evaluation of expected outcomes and goals under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Administer treatments as ordered according to policy and procedures under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Reinforce health/teaching/education of individuals and groups of patients under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Participate in activities to improve health care delivery under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Build knowledge and experience base regarding clinical leadership.
• Support lifelong learning.
• Complete assigned goals.

• Minimum
  
  Required Experience:
  
  Enrolled in an approved nursing program preparing for RN licensure with completion of one academic year of clinical courses.
• Computer Literacy: Basic computer skills.
• BLS Certification: Certification required within 14 days of hire date.
