JOB: Service Technician

EMPLOYMENT/FLSA STATUS: Full Time, Regular, Non-Exempt

We operate differently: our Service Technicians work in geographical teams led by a Regional Service Manager, responsible for overall business health and performance. We provide training, guidance, and support to ensure you can deliver exceptional customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

As a Service Technician, your primary duties include delivering customer service in the field, diagnosing service problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions about work needed. You will partner with our Preferred Customers by providing solutions that predict and prevent equipment failure, ensuring optimal operation with minimal breakdowns. Your responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing commercial refrigeration equipment, ice machines, and HVAC systems, including installation and repair of components such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, motors, control panels, switches, fuses, filters, gauges, ducts, piping, tubing, and related parts.
  • Working on commercial kitchen and cooking equipment like mixers, griddles, ovens, warming cabinets, fryers, steamers, and pasta cookers.
  • Communicating with manufacturers for diagnosis and parts identification.
  • Consulting with the Operations Department for technical support and scheduling follow-up work.
  • Collaborating with the Parts Department to order necessary parts.
  • Installing ordered parts professionally and promptly, following company policies.
  • Recommending additional services to customers as appropriate.
  • Producing accurate administrative documents, including work orders, time sheets, receipts, and inventory reports.
  • Following safety practices and accident prevention procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized truck, along with accurate inventory of parts and tools.
  • Maintaining productivity levels as per company standards.
  • Assisting fellow technicians with troubleshooting and technical support when needed.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
  • Knowledge of 3-phase systems, gas regulators, and the use of a voltmeter
  • Minimum of three (3) years of trade-related experience, including installing refrigeration piping, brazing, and setting up display cases, condensing units, compressor racks, and rooftop condensers
  • Ability to diagnose and repair commercial refrigeration systems, including ice machines, light commercial equipment, and HVAC systems
  • Ability to read and interpret refrigeration legends, construction drawings, and manuals
  • Physical ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift objects up to fifty pounds
  • Willingness to perform on-call and emergency after-hours duties
  • Attention to detail and effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • EPA Universal Certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Relevant technical training, licenses, or certifications (e.g., EPA, CFESA) or military experience
  • Experience in commercial refrigeration and/or cooking equipment repair
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize tasks within our proven model
